Default Series Motor Versus Regen Motor

I currently have a Series motor in my golf cart. The motor is bad, and I have an opportunity to get a new Regen motor for a very good price. Is it possible to simply replace a Series motor with a Regen motor? Can I just cap off the wires coming out of the head of the Regen motor? The golf cart is used for very light duty.

Yes, it is possible, but not simply.
You'd have to replace controller and do a bunch of rewiring al$o.

A regen motor is a Shunt Wound or Separately Excited (Sepex) motor and the field coil windings are much lighter gauge wire than the armature windings, so if you connected them in series, they would probably burn out almost instantly.
