Default 2001 regen won't move!!! Help!!

Hello,
I am a bit of a newbie. Quick question or problem. Car has been running great no problems, then yesterday, wife took it out and no go! turn key on step on gas, you hear clicking and it tries to move both in foward and reverse but basicly nothing. Put it on the charger and ammeter barely moves, not normal at all. Now with charger plugged in I can turn the lights on the lights come on and meter shoots up to 10 amps. BTW lights will not come on with charger unplugged. 2001 48v regen. Any Ideas? Thanks, Kim

Check all your battery connections, sounds like a loose/corroded one.

Doug,
Thanks, I'll check tomorrow afternoon, the batties all read 8.3 volts except one is 7.1. Total volts are 47.9. I cleaned all the terminals a couple of months ago, probably spring and sprayed them all with CRC terminal protector. but, I'll check tomorrow. That makes sense why the lights work on the charger as it probably bypasses the batteries when plugged in. Kim

You have at least 1 bad battery, a hydrometer will confirm this.

OK,
Got home from work, checked all connections, all is good. So 1 bad battery with just 1 volt down will cause it to not even move?? And the lights not to turn on?? Kim

Yes the cart will probably not move, 8.3v is about an 80% charge, 7.5v on an 8v battery is stone cold dead, yours is at 7.1v.

I just re-checked all the batteries and they all are 8.1V. What is odd is with the charger unplugged the lights will not even glow, but with the charger plugged in they are bright but the ammeter on the charger does not move where it normally does. Kim
