Default '82 blowing fuse in reverse??

I am new to this but have found success with the resources here, primarily the wiring diagrams. Thank you. Almost there, but having trouble with blowing the fuse when I put the cart in reverse. Doesn't matter if the key is on or off. Any ideas???

you will need to trace out the flow of current that occurs when the FR switch is moved into the rev position. Sounds like there is a short.

I unplugged one side of the micro switch. The fuse does not blow and reverse works. Can you tell me what the micro switch is for?

there are a few of those in the system. look in the tech thread under the need a manual or wiring diagram heading and you will find a diagram for an 89 which should help you id the switch.

I found one for an '85 which is accurate, just can't understand what the switch actually does....or what the big circle is supposed to represent....?

Yes indeed, my light bulb went on earlier. I guess it is ok just to bypass. Thanks all for the help.

You could bypass it, I recommend getting a new one or maybe wiring an indicator light on the dash so that you can't forget when you are in reverse. If you don't like the annoying sound of the reverse horn you can roll up a foam earplug and insert it into the hole. It greatly attenuates the sound.
