Default New Yamaha Golf Cart Owner - Need Help! G22A

Hi,

We just bought a 2002 Gas Yamaha Golf Cart. When we bought it, it hadn't ran in a year. We replaced the starter, battery, spark plug, air filter and fuel filter. We tightened up the gas pedal and it runs. We ran it with open choke b/c if not it seems to hesitate if you press the gas pedal down all the way. If you press it a little it will run fine. Once you press it down more it hesitates and is a little rough and then it will get going and run fine. If we leave it with the choke open it runs great with no hesitation. I am assuming that means it has to be a gas issue? We took the hoses off and it is squirting gas when we press the pedal but , I don't know if it's squirting enough gas or what to cause it to hesitate like that. Please any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Sounds like the carb may need a good cleaning.

If it's a Yamaha carb, keep it and clean it really good. I usually disassemble and soak overnight in water with Simple Green. Then wash it really good with nice hot water and a clean toothbrush. Let it air dry. Spray carb cleaner in every passageway. Reassemble. You might need a new bowl gasket, sometimes they swell from the alcohol in the fuel and won't seal correctly.

Thank you, we had cleaned it out with carb cleaner, we put sea foam in the tank and the oil. We tried a different fuel pump and nothing made it better. The more we run the cart it does have less hesitation. It's weird. When we press the pedal part way its fine but if we press it anymore it's like its trying to go but won't. Then it gets enough to go and runs fine, until you slow down and press it again. Well try cleaning the carburetor again and seeing if that will help. Thank you for the help!!
