G8A Flooding and starter hanging
Help, I'm going crazy.
G8A with fresh fuel filter, hoses, and pump. Fresh rebuild with it running great at first start and test drive. Carb was spitting raw gas from intake so I pulled apart to clean and broke ear off float hinge pin> ordered knock off carb and having same issues. This morning, pulled plug, turned over to clear cylinder, re-installed and started, drove down the street. When I returned it began to bog and died running on the starter. Gas was dripping from intake. The starter motor is hanging engaged intermittently. I believe I have start/stop switch adjusted correctly, replaced V/R, someone said possibly feedback thru regulator could cause this. DID NOT HAVE AIRBOX INSTALLED! Mine is missing, anyone have one they would part with I'm looking. This cart had a blown Duramax in it with a hole the size of your fist. I am putting it back 100% stock. Tips or suggestions? I know knock off carb not best choice. |

Re: G8A Flooding and starter hanging
Okay,
No replies but here is my update. 1) Listen to everyone and DO NOT, buy a cheap *** chinese carb. Replaced with a borrowed factory carb and it runs great. 2) As far as intermittent starter hang, guess what? Solenoid I had replaced is faulty. I know my luck is traditionally bad, lets hope some other parts I bought online don't exhibit the same issues. Good Luck! |

Re: G8A Flooding and starter hanging
Not sure I can help you with the starter/gen if your switch is working properly. That would be my guess, the switch is not disengaging.
For the airbox, post a thread in the "parts" section, you might find someone that has a spare laying around. Factory carb is best. Again, if you don't have one, post in the "parts" section. Usually when I convert back to stock I make sure I can find a donor cart to steal parts off of. Not easy to find, I know, but it's really difficult to piece a cart back together without one. Like Johnny Cash said...."ONE PIECE AT A TIME". |
