Default Clutch Engages BUT Cart Stays Still

I had a trailer cart full of sand and when I tried to take off the starter and motor cranked and rev’d up, but the cart stayed put. I pulled the seat and found the drive clutch closing but the belt not catching.

I unhooked the cart and tried reverse.. it worked. Then I tried forward... it worked. Time for a new clutch?

Some of you may remember the jerking on start up and slow hill climbing I’ve talked about in my previous posts. Just want to make sure this scenario is a no doubter about the clutch.

Hope not, just bought a new belt last summer. Now, I don’t know how long they should last. It may have worn out due to clutch?

Trying to eliminate throwing hundreds at it till it’s fixed.

What belt? OEM Yamaha belt at the minimum. Plowmans or GBoost are much better. Most aftermarket belts usually turn out to be junk...

Not a good belt. But it would have to be really worn out to make the cart not run. Should be easy to check to see why it wont go.

Might be time for disassembly and inspection. I wouldn't buy anything until I did a thorough examination. If you're not sure what you're looking at, post some really good pics of the parts disassembled.

I’ve taken the drive clutch cover off and watched everything open and close. The secondary works just as well. Can someone post a picture of a healthy secondary inside sheave and spring seat collar. I have a feeling the teeth are worn and ramp shoes need replaced.
