It's a great learning project. I redid this 88 last year. Parts are getting harder to come by. There isn't a piece on this cart that hasn't been dismantled, blasted and powder coated. Still need to do some under body lighting

So it's been a little bit since I've posted and I actually have gotten a good bit done. It's still not complete by any means, especially since it's stuck in the middle of a paint job, but it's running well and the first tank of gas is almost all used up.

Looking at my last post, I was at the point of rebuilding the motor. It actually went smoother than I thought it would. I still faced a few difficulties in the process but I was able to get it back together and test the compression at 130psi. The most difficult part for me was getting the second bearing in on the clutch side. I placed the case halves in the oven with the oven off, then turned it up to 300 over a period of about an hour to let it warm up slowly (probably not necessary but I wasn't going to crack the case). After letting the bearings sit in the freezer over night they slid right in for the most part. Had to tap them in with a hammer and a block of wood but not too much. I then got some longer bolts to help pull the cases together and it was complete. I did add some permatex motoseal in between the cases to help seal it off.
