First smallmouth of the year!
I do a lot of fishing. Haven’t posted about it much here but my avatar kinda shows it.
I’m off to a good start! My normal smaller lakes are frozen so my buddy and I hit the upper James river to try to track down some winter time bass. 3.5lb smallmouth is pretty good fish for this area! Also caught a couple good 2-3lb largemouth and a 4.1lb large all out of the same spot! Not bad for the first bass on a brand new reel! |

Re: First smallmouth of the year!
Thanks guys! They were released, so no filets! But they might end up as snacks for one of the 50+” Musky that someone caught up there a few weeks ago!
I’ve seen a few musky in the 40” range sitting in the shallows on the James and it’s quite intense seeing an almost 4 foot long brown shark swim past the boat a feet below the surface. 0.o |

Re: First smallmouth of the year!
Are those Musky good for anything? I didn't even know we had those around here.
