84CC Coils
I have a 84CC 36V with a new D&D motor with 10% more torque. Everything was working perfect. Then the coils went out!!! I replaced all the coils new and now the 3rd speed control coils is getting super red hot. It’s never done this before. Long story short. I want to get rid of the old solenoids and coils. Any suggestions?

Re: 84CC Coils
Look to the "site sponsors" tab and talk to Dave at Revolution or Scotty B at Carts Unlimited. Both can talk you through converting to a much more efficient controller system.

Re: 84CC Coils
Is this the setup with 5 solenoids or just one solenoid?
The throttle mechanism is either not going all the way to full or one of the solenoids is not closing in so you’re pulling power through the coils all the time and not getting full lower to the motor. The coils won’t last like that, but they’re usually fine if you can fix the throttle issue. |

Re: 84CC Coils
It’s a 5 solenoid with 3 speed control coils. I’ve adjusted the throttle bar.

Re: 84CC Coils
Don’t know if that year should have 3 resistors or 4, but either way, Full speed is not supposed to go through any resistors.
The last throttle microswitch may be bad or likely the last solenoid is bad. Check for voltage getting to the last solenoid with the pedal all the way to the floor. (Back Wheels of the ground) Edit: No v-glide, I don’t read on a 5th grade level sometimes… |

Re: 84CC Coils
I just went through a similar issue with a new D&D hi-torque motor.
- 4th Solenoid got extremely hot and energized when turning on key and in F or R - 2nd and 3rd Solenoid clicked but would not energize motor - I only had zero or max speed (no fun loading into truck on ramps) Long troubleshooting story: - Cleaned and lubed speed switch box - Verified each switch continuity and operation of each solenoid - Found 3rd speed resistor open - Cable on 3rd battery +post vice 4th battery +post (could’ve been me when upgrading cables) Holy Buckets - now try finding a replacement resistor! |

Re: 84CC Coils
I have 2 sets of old resistors that you can have. Just pay for shipping. PM if interested.
