Default taller tire?

Haven't posted in awhile but i use my ol' EZGO quite a bit. '03 cart with an 18hp Vanguard w/cam change and a rev kit. comet clutch and a small car muffler. Rear tires are pretty worn & Id like to replace them w/taller tires. I have 22/11/8 all the way around. I've got plenty of acceleration but I'd like a lower RPM cruise around the neighborhood. How much difference would say 2" taller make. What sizes are available? Am I gonna need a bigger diameter rim than the 8" to mount a taller tire? Thanks in advance for the help.

Going from 22 to 23 will get you 2-3 mph. 25 will get you 5 plus. Most of the taller tires are 10" rims, but I'm sure you can find some that will fit 8", the selection just won't be as plentiful.

Thanks slonomo. When I first put the cart together I used a little digital tach. and a GPS app on my phone. I'd read that I probably should use 5000rpm for a redline. 5000 rpm showed 31 mph on the GPS. Not looking for more top speed, I just want to lower the cruising rpm and noise around the neighborhood. I'll look for a 25" tire & only buy rims if I have to. Not too concerned about looks.

Yeah keep those rpm's down and you'll be better off. I usually keep under 4000 rpm when cruising, although I do an occasional speed run. Hopefully you have good brakes that don't lock up too easy.
