Any harm in having the pre-charge resistor still attached with an XCT controller?

Yes, I think it will not run with the precharge resistor on. Might trigger the HPD fault.

Here is a 400a solenoid with arrows pointing to the Regen Diode (right hand side) and the Suppression Diode (bottom middle) properly installed. Note that the banded/striped side of the diode is facing and attached to the positive activation or battery/current supply sides to give the needed protection.

I think Alltrax needs to get their poop in a pile. In their manual they want a 1amp diode but in the schematic in tiny print they ask for a 3amp (both about a dime but they sell for 100 times that )

As far as their other suppression circuit that should be on their shoulders if they charge $500 for their product. Either fix the problem in the controller or give the 6 dollar part away with every sale. According to them they’ve sold over 3 million, why are they expecting a non employee on a hobby forum to be doing their job of informing past and current buyers. Shameful.

A 1 amp diode is usually for a 200a solenoid and a 3 amp diode is usually for a 400a solenoid.

And coil suppression is not as much an issue for the controller as it is your positive activation circuit on your cart. Ie: Micro-switches.

Your cart should have been equipped with a diode so if you kept your OEM solenoid it will still work as it did prior to the Controller replacement.

Been running dirty (without a coil suppression diode) since I installed my controller a few years back. Ordered a diode and a FN-Key from Scotty maybe 6 months ago and finally got around to installing it this weekend exactly as pictured above. Went to test the cart today and it wouldn't go anywhere. It would start stop start stop like a stutter.

Initially, I thought it was a programming issue because I have no idea what I'm doing with the programmer. In order to narrow down what had changed, I pulled the diode and the cart was back to normal running fine.

I grabbed my meter and the diode tested correctly. Additionally, I had it installed correctly.

I'm at a loss and starting to wonder if I have something else backwards.

My eyes may be playing tricks on me, but I do not see the suppression diode(?)
I do see the Regen diode on the large posts....

Your eyes are dead on! I took this picture while I was troubleshooting and had removed the suppression diode.
