Default Battery manufacture date?

I just bought my first cart. It is a 92 EZGO. Was told that the batteries were replaced (new) in August of 08. The batteries do not have the date marked on the top of the batteries. The 'calendar page' has no marks on it. However - every battery has the number 3 printed on the negative terminal. Someone suggested that this may mean 2003? They are NAPA batteries. Anyone have any ideas?

They should have a letter and number on the Neg post.It is usually on the base not the top of the post... Like A3 the letter indicates the month and the the number = the year.

I have only seen date codes stamped on the posts on Trojan batteries. Other brands seem to use stickers or labels, or none at all.

If they are NAPA batteries just call a NAPA dealer & ask what the code means. Some batteries such as these automotive type have a plastic decal that is marked at the time of sale of the battery in order to identify the warranty period. Check that negative pad a little closer also.

same here. I have only seen trojans be marked permanantly. others are usually stickers that come off as soon as they are cleaned off
