Default Speed problem

Hi everone again. First of i want to thank everyone for the time they spend reading my problems and helping me solve them, but i am here still with another one so here it is. So far this is what i did with my 87 par car i changed the bearings replaced the buttons on the secondary clutch because they were worn down replaced the throttle cable replaced the fuel with new fuel got rid of the oil reservore now immixing my own oil and gad 50:1 and the problem i am having with the cart is that i can slowely accelerate but once the pedal is all the way down i cant slow her down unless i let the pedal all the way up and when i press it back down it backfires. Im trying to fix this problem can anyone tell me what i should do next maybe the timing is of and how do i check? thank you in advance

Mike, is it still that push style throttle cable?
Does it have a good return spring.
It may not be closing when you lift and flooding
the exaust with fuel, then when you step
back down it starts to spark again backfiring.

Hi Doug. Well yes it is the push style cable and noit does not have the return spring. But when i raised it upi can see that when i push the pedal it pushes the carb open and when i let of the pedall it closes the carb is it possible that something inside is not letting it close?

I would try a spring on it, less
than 2 dollars.

the correct oil to gas is ratio is 85:1 any more oil and the cart will loose power.
