G9 missing fuel pump/carb
I just bought a very rough G9 at auction and this is my first cart. It is completely missing the fuel pump, all tubing and lines, carb. It will turn over and has stout compression, so I need a schematic or some guidance to plumb. I have ordered a fuel pump, carb, and I have the fuel line out of the tank run.
My first question is what is the tube coming out of the valve cover for and what do I hook it to? The pump seems rather straightforward, 3 places to attach lines that I assume are fuel in, fuel out, and the line to the crankcase for suction. I think the throttle cable is mostly intact and I can figure that out. Any pics or diagrams would be great. Every youtube video of a fuel pump replacement shows a guy swapping out lines so fast it is of no help to me. Any help or info would be helpful. |

Re: G9 missing fuel pump/carb
So I figured out the line goes to the airbox, like a puke tube for extra oil. Hopefully I can find the crankcase hookup

Re: G9 missing fuel pump/carb
When I got my first cart I invested in a factory Yamaha repair manual. Best money I ever spent. It has everything in it.
Your third line on the fuel pump is called the "vacuum pulse" line. It should be on the side of the engine that the fuel pump mounts. Usually Yamaha carts have a Mikuni pump like the one pictured. It should mount on the fuel tank. Some carts just have a vacuum line that connects to various things. Look for a line that comes from the crankcase that has a vacuum hose on it with a splitter fitting. If the engine has been monkey'd with it might not be there. In the second pic you can see the smaller line on the pump is the vacuum line. It connects to a splitter hooked to a vacuum hose. The larger line coming from the right is the fuel inlet, it goes to the screw in cap on the bottom of the tank. Inside that cap is your fuel filter. The line going over the top is the fuel outlet, it goes to the carb. The smaller line going to the right is your vacuum pulse line. |

Re: G9 missing fuel pump/carb
Very helpful. The "t" going to the vacuum pulse line is confusing. It goes to the pump, but from the pic I can't tell where else?
