Default how to test fuel pump

Have 1987 marathon that was running fine. Stopped running like it was out of fuel. Pulled the line to the carb and no fuel is being pumped. Can blow air in fuel line and hear fuel bubbling in tank. Bought new fuel pump which did not correct problem. Engine has 100 lbs of compression which it will hold.
How can I test the fuel pump or what else could cause this problem?

My first guess would be the crankshaft seals.
Did it happen to backfire right before it quit running?

Did not backfire before quitting. Just stuttered like it was running out of gas. I took the new fuel pump off and can feel air coming from the hole that matches the bottom of the fuel pump where the O ring sits.

Gasket on the fuel pump adapter is in bad shape. I did not know there was a gasket there. That could be leaking I suppose.

not sure if it will work for you but I had my cart taken apart and when I put it back together I wasn't getting any fuel neither I did the same thing blew into it and can hear it bubbling so then I siphoned the fuel line, got a small mouth full but then it got it to start pumping on its own.
