What is the torque for connecting rod to crankshaft? I read 28 then read 14?

I have it at 28? I mess up?

14 ft/lbs. Right out of the yamaha shop manual. If you got to 28 ft/lbs you are lucky nothing snapped or stripped with the G16 having a cast aluminum rod. If that excessive torque will cause rod/crank issues might be a concern as the G16 as the G16 has no shell bearings. Maybe one of the yamaha pros on here can say if rod could be warped out of round.

If you over torque the connecting rod it can distort the shape of the bearing and cause wear. Take it apart and torque it to spec, then spin the engine by hand and feel for any tiny bit of bind. You may not feel it so it would be wise to measure the rod journal with a mic.

I did take apart retorque correct.

Then I rotate with hand. Works great
