Please help cant get cart to start!!
Hi i just got a pretty nice Yamaha golf cart off a buddy for free.. It needs a little work. It didnt run when i got it and i found that it needed a new fuel pump, got one and started right up...then i was out being an idiot going through a small water/mud hole and then right in the middle of the hole it just died....Did something short? Any ideas where i should start to look for problems? Its not even turning over now so i dont know what happened. Thanx guys for any help!

Re: Please help cant get cart to start!!
If it will not crank over at all (dead) and this is a 4 stroke cart (G2-G16...), check:
1. blown main fuse on the driver's side rear fender area under the seat (10 amp) 2. gas pedal switch under the pedal (has two wires going to it) 3. wet starter/generator (see if one the rubber plugs is missing that goes around the side) If you get it to crank over and it will not start (since you were in water), check your spark plug. They fowl easily. It could be a few other things, but start here. Keep us posted. |

Re: Please help cant get cart to start!!
Hey thanx, it was actually the first thing you told me to check a blown main fuse on the driver's side rear fender area under the seat (10 amp). Sure enough it was blown, threw a new fuse in, and it started right up...Thankyou very much for your help. May i ask you exactly what the fuse is for??
