Default 2012 TXT Motor Swap

I just got a 2012 txt with a blown up Kawasaki (let me know if you need any engine parts) I’m looking for a picture to see how to mount a duro max or predator into the cradle, or suggestions on what route to take with the swap

I see Vegascarts has a kit to install a HF 670 in your cart. There is an installation guide with pics to give you an idea what is involved.

I am trying to find out if I need to drop the frame to get the 18hp duro max to fit-I intend to remove the gas tank to lower the overall height

TXT's typically have tons of room in then engine compartment. The last one I worked on had a Vegas Carts cradle setup and it was really really nice. The bolt pattern on the HF670 is the same as the Briggs Vanguard, the VC460, and Predator 420 if I remember correctly. I actually used a clone engine mount plate in one cart and had 3 of the 4 of those engine in that same cart with that mount, so I know they will interchange.

As far as size goes, any one of those engine types will fit in a TXT without issue. The Kaw version TXT is a bit different though as far as mounts etc, and the transaxle is different from earlier models. I would not hesitate to use a Vegas Carts mount setup.

If you are lifting the cart, you definitely want a cradle that sits level. Vegas Carts cradles will be set up good for a 4" to 6" lift, maybe not dead level, but close enough to be safe for the engines.

If you are building a cradle, get the engine first, then mock it up in the engine bay, that's how I do them. I custom design the cradle to fit the engine. Some engines are taller and a "one size" approach doesn't always work out well.

She fits with a 2x4 underneath as a mock motor mount. Currently looking for 780 torque converter spacers to align to the driven clutch.

That engine looks a little too close to the trans. I usually make the engine sit so a 43" or 44" belt fits, that's a common size. I prefer a large flat mounting plate with slotted holes for adjustment. I've made them from 2" flat stock and bolted them together back before I could weld. I've welded them up too. Now I just buy a generic mount plate and weld that into a base cradle that bolts up between the trans and front frame mount.

I have a predator motor mount on the way. Yes she has to come up two inches to clear the shifter and be far enough away from the rear clutch.
