Default Couple questions from the new guy

Hello all.
Bought a Melex Golf Cart in Az just before we left for the summer months that needs some work, so looking forward to fixing it up next winter.
From reading through the posts here I think it must be a 512E?, and I plan to put some better wires on it.
Meanwhile looking for a few parts it needs, and some info.
Never owned a golf cart before. Don't play golf, so only drove one a couple times. Just stay the winter in a town that has golf cart lanes on all the major streets, so people use them for every day transportation there.
First off there is a toggle switch next to the lever that shifts forward, and reverse.
I have tried it, but it doesn't do anything that is obvious. I suspect it is a master shut off? I think someone jumped a wire there for some reason, because the gauge is always on that tells how much charge is left.
I printed out a wire diagram I found somewhere on here, but wasn't familiar with the components, so it didn't make much sense to me.
Another thing is the battery charger makes a loud noise. Sounds like somebody tightening up lug nuts with an air wrench. Is this normal? It does have a dent in it, but I didn't take the cover off to see what it looked like inside.
Searching Melex I found repair manual, but my computer wouldn't download it, because it might be a virus. Has anyone know of a place to find maintenance info.

Vintage golf carts sells parts for melex and manuals. My lester prong charger is very loud but doesn't "hammer" and it works. I have the same cart (first golf cart purchase) and I put a toggle for accessories and that is probably what u have. The only major purchase that caused me trouble was king pin bearings.

Thanks for the replies.
I did get a parts book off Ebay.
From that I have figured out a few things.
Looks like there is a turn buckle to adjust brakes.

Changed a tire on the golf cart yesterday.
Noticed it's a boy.
I suspect this is something to tow with?
Anybody else ever seen one?

Thanks Crash Test Dummy.
Previous question about toggle switch next to forward reverse lever.
Got a picture of it front & back. Nothin' it does is obvious while driving it.

Thanks again.
The other end of the wire goes down to a small rectangle shaped box, and a wire comes from that up to a solenoid looks like a car would have.
I'll attach a picture, but hard to trace it out.

There is a toggle switch next to the key that is for lights. A horn button next to the key, and a button on the brake peddle for brake lights.

Who knows what that owner was doing. That is not standard. It could be their way of turning on a reducer. Do your lights work with switch on or off? Take a pic of that black box.
