Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
I've got a 94 txt with serious wheel how on the drivers side. I've isolated it to the left rear axle area. When I pulled the center cap off I noticed the wheel is off center I attached some pictures... it it possible the axle shaft is bent. I rotated the wheel on each lug to rule out bad machining.

My first impression is that the wheel bearing has lost some rollers.

Re: Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
I have a funky hop on my txt as well. Bearing was wobbly loose so I tightened it some. Seemed fine for a while. Weather changed, and now it seems worse. Now I'm thinking its tire related.
These bearings do seem to wear out real fast like on golf carts for some reason. It seems like a worn bearing would cause more of a left/right shimmy than a hop. Camber would be on the negative side as well. |

Re: Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
If it wasn't wobbly before, I'd also guess wheel bearing. It's definitely work investigating. You could take the wheel off and rotate the axle to see if you can feel anything. Or just take it apart and inspect. If the cart has seen any water crossings or puddles, I'd bet the bearings got wet and the grease got dirty etc.

Re: Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
I enlarged the picture enough to see better detail & I think you need to keep looking for or wheel hop culprit. That TXT has the axle shaft splines running through that hub so there really is no way for the hub to become off center. Looking closely it IS all centered up, just the washer under the hub nut is off center & making it look wrong.

Re: Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
You know, he's right. Good catch meimk.
I bought some off road type tires once and they all turned out to be out of round. Didn't feel it off road, but on the road it was wobbly. The tire could be damaged, causing the wobble. The rim could also be bent. I've had that happen too. Try switching the tires around to the other sides. See if the wobble changes sides. |

Re: Wheel hop lifted ezgo txt
Hopefully I get some time this weekend to mess with it. It's a new set of wheel and tires. My wife first noticed it on the way to the pool. Thought it was a flat tire and turned back. Feels like an egg.
