Default 2002 DS IQ Curtis Controller and D&D Motor Compatible??

I have a CC 2002 48V with brand new batteries a stock motor I was having problems where cart would go extremely slow maybe 7mph, took it to local CC dealer he tested everything and advised me that my Alltrax DCX300 was bad and he went on to say that they are garbage.

He charged me $455 to put in a Curtis controller with High speed code in it already. I got it home and it was running but topped out at 18-19mph. So wanting more speed I bought a D&D 170-003-0002 from a friend of a friend. I have not put it in yet I did notice that there is no speed controller on the side.

My question is my new motor compatible with the Curtis Controller that was just recently installed?? Can I add a sensor to that model Engine?

Also after reading a thread earlier tonight it would seem as though my Speed sensor went bad not my controller like the dealer told me.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks, Matt

Welcome to BGW!

BGW is here to prevent dealers ripping people off, which sounds like what happened.
An IQ cart will revert to 8 mph when the speed sensor fails, which is more than likely what happened.
Is the new D&D motor a sepex?

Jakesnake27 I am not sure if it is a Sepex. Can you help me determine the type?

No that motor will not work. It is a series motor. I'll buy it from you if the price is right.

Also it sounds like the dealer put a stock controller back in. You will need to replace this again if you throw a big motor in.

Alltrax is anything but junk. You cluld have seen if the alltrax was throwing any codes (red flashes)

The DCX controller does not use the speed sensor.

Post the motor identification so we can see if it will fit your cart.
300 amp alltrax was not much more than stock size control. Sounds like dealer put the stock 225 amp control back in - hard to supply an after market motor with the stock control.
