Default 1981 Club Car 3 battery set up

this is a 1981 Club Car. Has anyone ever seen this type of battery set up before? I'm considering buying it. pretty sure it's going to need new batteries. Can these be replaced with 6 new ones? Thanks for any info!

Those are old Military / FCC Generator Batteries.

They are much heavier than regular batteries and I would honestly replace them as soon as possible if you buy the cart. The government doesn't let them out into the private sector until they are about used up.

Free is good, just get 3 car batteries and see if it runs.

You can put good batteries in it later if you decide it is worth it.

I agree with Scotty. Test first, buy new later. If you have a couple of friends with boats, see if you can borrow their batteries for a couple of days.

Also, make sure if it's a 36 or 48 Volt cart. I recently found out one of mine is a 48 Volt cart that had been run on 36 Volts for a while before I got it.

I now have it running on 48 Volts and it runs much better!

How do you determine 36 or 48 on this old cart? Thanks again for all of the info.
