Voltage reducer

Does a voltage reducer drain any juice from the batteries when not being used? I seem to be loosing voltage even when cart is not being used. I know they drain some as time goes by, but this will drain to almost nothing on the 2 that it is wired to. Learned the hard way!!

Which 2 batteries and what type/size reducer are you using?

I'm losing something here! " on the two that it is wired to. " Anyway, yes, the source should be switched. There was a post about using a relay from your key switch to turn the converter on and off. I'll try and find it. I honestly don't have much luck with the forum search. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong!

While I was waiting for my relay to arrive, I installed a switch. I'll have both for added safety.

I was losing a noticable amount of voltage everyday and the converter was somewhat warm in the morning, although nothing was drawing from it.

Problems are all over now as my pack volts are 50.9 in the morning.

Wired to the last 2 in the pack. Its a 16v to 12v reducer. Don`t like that type of reducer but that was what was on it. Going to change to a 12v aux. battery and quit having the problem. But wanted to know in the mean time. Thanks all.

There is your issue . . you are not using a converter/reducer that draws from the entire pack . . . you need a 48v converter/reducer that will draw from entire pack, not burdening two of your 6 batteries, wired so converter/reducer can be shut down when not being driven . . .

i think you really need to get a 48 to 12 volt reducer that would cure your ills............................
