Default What is a good price for my first EZGo TXT hunting project?

I'm looking to buy my first golf cart for use on our ranch.

I'm looking to get something that I can upgrade but runs right out of the gate. I'm looking at a lifted 2011 EZGO 48V TXT that includes AT tires, 2014 Trojan batteries, 2 chargers and LED lights with a DC-DC converter. The price is $2600. Good deal? What should I look for when I test drive?

Ok...different question. What should I be looking for in a good cart? I want to eventually convert it to having a rear seat to cart the kids. Would also like it to fold down to a flat bed.

There is one pretty steep hill on the property, but other than that pretty flat but unpaved.

Thanks!

Im not really qualified to answer your question but from reading on here alot in the last few days I have come to the following conclusions.

If you are going to lift a cart and put big tires on it, you will get more speed but will loose torque. To help with that you can get a higher amp controller to increase the torque but you will sacrifice top speed. Also if you get a higher amp controller you should upgrade your cables and solenoid to handle the amps.

- Also, Trojans are the "benchmark" batteries all others are measured against.
- 48v carts are better then 36v carts.
- One of the first upgrades you should do is 2ga wiring.

For the ranch a series cart would be best. You can tow a small trailer and climb hills and sneak slowly around to enjoy wildlife. I can’t remember if all txt48’s are series on not. Look in the stickies to determine which one it is. Look at the frame for more than light surface rust.

Price sounds ok but your going to need batteries soon, 1 to 3 years if they were not abused and kept charged. If you like it go for it and fix her up.

Welcome to the addiction!

Series golf cart production stopped in 2008 or possibly a few in 2009. These were all 36v carts from the factory. All TXT48 are 48v and sepex.

The 48 volt txt is a good cart but 14 batteries are probably going to be tired. $2600 with the options list is not bad.

So would you choose 48V over a 36V series?

What can I count on budgeting for cables, controller and solenoid on a late model sepex? Trying to put together a palatable budget :)

$699-$799 from a site sponsor. This is for a 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller, high capacity solenoid, and premium 2 ga welding cables custom made for your particular brand of cart. Also includes a battery state of charge meter and key switch plate from this particular sponsor. These kits are pretty much plug n play. Alltrax controllers are user programable with free software for your windows based laptop. The 500 amp controller can be turned down to minimize the stress on your stock motor but can handle pretty much any optional motor you might want to add later if necessary or desired.
Using the cart you suggested in post #1, this kit would result in increased torque and higher top speed while remaining reliable even with the larger tires normally associated with a lifted cart. Note: this will tax the battery pack and will expose any weakness there. A quality, healthy battery pack is the foundation for any electric cart.
-----this is one example------
