Yamaha G9(?) Rear end input shaft splines. What sprocket will work?

You could have a wire burn shop cut you the splines in any hub you want to make. It may cost you but you would have something then. I've seen it, it is sweet. So you could make a hub that fit a common sprocket and have the spline put in it.

I am trying to keep costs at a minimum cause I know this factory differential will have a short life. I am gathering the parts for a 1-1/4" solid axle set up for when the ole spicer bites the dust. I hope I get a few years of use out of it though. 140hp turning a input shaft built for 11hp leaves me preparing for a short life. I ordered my 19 spline coupling today, then I'll order the sprocket and weld them together (pictures soon)

From what I read the guys with the big rice motors never drop the clutch, they don't use the clutch much at all just to take off. Once in gear they have enough power to burn the tires. If they shift they do it very carefully with no throttle. They say long as you don't clutch it the rear will handle it, but if you shock it with the clutch it can break. This works because the rice motors have a huge powerband. The gears in most of these cart trans are around 1" wide, made to last 50yr or so I think.

That makes sense, I just need to swing into a machine shop and have them mill me a splined hub. I've been plumbing the radiator in the mean time.

That is what I was saying, I worked in a CNC/wire shop they cut them with wire burn. I think you need a mandrel (like they use for keyways) to cut a spline otherwise, but maybe they have one. With wire they charge by the inch x depth of cut and I don't know how much lol, but it makes a wonderful cut I can tell you it will look factory.

This shows what they do, forget the sound on this lol. They don't show it cutting it arcs some like a welder but not as much, but check out the shapes they have cut out.

Technical name is Wire EDM. They can also do it with rods, that is mostly used to take out broken bolts and dowels far as I know. It will burn a hole into the metal, the wire must have a hole to start in or cut from the edge. Often with round things they put a hole in the center, then center the cut off from that hole.

The only think that I could find that works, is a small #35 chain sprocket from northern tools here in town. It has two set screws but is smooth on the instde. I just welded it onto the shaft both at both ends... Voila!... If you dont have a Northern Tool in your town, check it out on their website... it's actually a heavy duty go cart sprocket, but it will work.
