Brakes on lifted cc ds
I have a 2007 CC DS 48volt with at a 6” lift. Seems like my brake lines are not long enough and you have to put a lot of pressure on the brake pedal to stop. I have replaced the pads and drums.

You’ll need to adjust the cables after the lift. Usually the adjustment nuts in the center part under the cart where the rod splits to both cables will be sufficient.
Properly adjusted the rear drums can lock the wheels up at speed if you really want them to… |

Re: Brakes on lifted cc ds
Check the adjustment of the drums first. If the drum adjusters are too far out the cables can't pull far enough to make them work.
Since you just installed a lift check the bracket that the cable mounts to. When those are installed improperly it changes the effective length of the cable and limits how far the cable can pull. Look for a gap between the u-bolt and the spring leafs. If the bracket is twisted under the axle you need to loosen the u-bolts and turn the bracket so the u-bolts are tight up against the spring and then tighten the bolts down. After checking those, move to cable adjustment under the pedal LAST. The cable adjustment at the pedal only affects pedal height, and doesn't greatly change anything at the drums. |

Just curious as I haven’t messed with the self adjusting ones, but how would you “reset” them to not be pushing out on the drums so much. I havent looked into mine but was gonna soon. After reading this figured you all had good info to save me time . Lol |

Re: Brakes on lifted cc ds
Ok so I guess I wasn’t exactly sure of what was going on with the brakes. Upon further inspection the driver side brake is handling all the braking. When I tighten the adjustment nut the passenger side brake cable doesn’t tighten up until the drivers side brake is locked up. And even then the brake never engages to stop the rotor. So I think I have a brake cable issue. Maybe the cable is broken inside sheath?
