Default 1989 Marathon vs text wiring diagram

I am having trouble figuring out if this car is a marathon or a text 1989. I was wondering if the wiring diagram would be the same. I undo the green wire to the ignition coil and engine will spin over ,and if I replace the green wire to the ignition coil it blows the fuse when I push the gas pedal. Any ideas ? Bad ignition coil?

It’s a marathon if it’s a 1989. Should have a pointy black plastic nose. Yours would have the 2 stroke 3pg engine in 89 (I believe)

If the body is curvy and plastic it’s a txt. Should have the robins twin cylinder engine

If it’s curvy and metal it’s a medalist. Also would have the robins twin cylinder engine

The new solenoid (white rogers) the small black side I believe. I just ordered a new ignition coil.

Not that it'll make much difference but post up a pic of the ID tag too, let's make sure it's an 89.

Post #25 has a link to the 89 manual. https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthre...=105501&page=3

There are 2 small terminals on the solenoid. One of them has all of the grounds mounted and the other has all of the hots leading there.

Make sure that your green wire is connected to the coil positive and goes to the hot side of the solenoid (small terminal).

Blowing a fuse means that you have a dead short.

This is an old solenoid before I replaced it .Looks like a cheap knock off.The reason I am working on this is it stopped running going down the road ....just like someone shut the power off , nothing happened just quit.
