I seen that also BUT I could not find any tuning parts to alter the engagement rpm.

I may just scrap the snowmobile drive clutch idea and stick with a G2 clutch instead. That'd take out all the engagement guess-work, not to mention being able to tuck the S/G more into line with the engine, and I'll just be left with hoping the engine has enough low-end power to get the cart moving. Heck, I don't even know if this 40+ year old clutch is any good anyway!

With 40 hrsprs (400% of the factory engine) turning a modified 5:1 final ratio with 23" tires (I'm estimating to be between 1/3 and 1/2 the overall factory ratio of 12:1, AFTER considering tire size differences), I don't think I'll have too many issues. Again, I'm not looking for "torque-monster" results, just basically original golf cart torque (ok, slightly higher would be nice) with a higher top-end speed. Wheelies, donuts, and broadies are fun but that's not the goal of this build.

Keeping in mind that this is a budget build, does Vevor make a good drive clutch for golf carts or should I look elsewhere? I found a good deal for a new one at $80

Can't answer the one question BUT using the stock G2 driven clutch will work fine. Even with the engagement down to 1500-1800 rpms my 440 cc suzuki can smoke the tires. The twin cylinder sled engines are 4 times as powerful as the stockers. Remember to get 40 or so hp and a 6000 + red line you have spend quite a bit of $'s to do that using even Vtwin lawn tractor engines.

Finally a bit of good news! Assuming it's still available on payday, I'm going to pull the trigger on this clutch. Thank you!

Fortunately, the G2 (4-stroke) has forward and reverse built into the transaxle.

Installed a cheapo 4" economy lift in the cart last night - just to get my engine clearance in the right area for the build. Only one bolt made me work for it - and it was a rear bolt on the A-arm, of course. I consider it lucky that I only had to fight one of them. While I could turn it with some effort, it was seized internally to the bushing. Well, 6 beers, 45 minutes, 6,371 curse words, - and a bunch of hammering on it using a tractor pin against the bolt as my way to get a clear swing - later, it finally came loose! I mushroomed the end of the bolt so badly that I had to cut the tip off so it'd pass through the holes but overall, I felt pretty good about it (the beer may have helped ). As you can see, I didn't bother putting the subframe back in yet. I obviously have more work to do on that regarding the chaincase before I bother. The lift is installed though. I'm planning on HD shocks for the rear as well. This is NOT my final lift solution! I plan on installing a Jake's long travel suspension double A-arm kit with disk brakes. Until I do that, I'm considering keeping the governor in the system in order to avoid allowing my inner speed-demon to show his face (sometimes it's hard to keep him at bay lol). Speaking of the governor though, are there any internal workings to it in the transaxle or is it really just a simple spring-loaded arm? Nothing I've found mentions much about it - other than how to adjust or bypass it.

Oh, I also got to experience the agony of cleaning off 40+ years of caked on dirt and grime from the subframe. I took it to a car wash and blasted it with hot soapy water for 6 minutes, then took it home, scrubbed it with a soft brush and Dawn dish soapy water, then pressure washed it again with a tip capable of taking paint off from concrete. Still needs yet another hand-washing for some of the nooks and crannies but it sure looks a lot nicer! More importantly, I can move it around without instantly turning my hands black!

Is it a G9 for sure? How do you tell? I've been calling it a G2 because that's what the seller told me! He also said it's an '85 and I have my doubts about that as well.
