Trojan lithium battery
I stopped at a local CC dealer today and was talking to the owner and inquired if they were doing any Lithium battery conversions. He said no, and as a matter of fact, Trojan had recalled the Lithium batteries that they had in stock. He said they were having trouble with defects and were addressing the problem now. I don't know how much truth there was in the conversation. I wasn't there to buy lithium, only T875 FLA batteries. So just passing it along and make of it what you will, in case someone was considering Trojan lithium.

Re: Trojan lithium battery
Thanks for sharing....
Lithium batteries are for those who are willing to experiment and at times with good results... Yet as I read through the posts on the various lithium plug n play and others.. to me lithium is not yet prime time ready or their bms systems... For me it is more practical to use higher capacity agms ...yes they are heavy but the reliability and range... agms well worth it! Just charge at the end of each daily duty cycle. Just from what I read... |

Re: Trojan lithium battery
The present is lithium. Tesla! IMO there is no comparison. There is no magic to using Lithium - it just has to be done right.

Re: Trojan lithium battery
Lithium is the future for golf carts....but still not prime time ready...as you
read through the numerous post here on BGW...you will get the panorama of what I've been reading.. Tesla has far greater resources than the big 3 cart mfgs...so they are far more advanced..as they should be. Toyota has gone 1 up on them by announcing the new solid state battery powered electric car.... https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/t...-cars-by-2020/ That will be the very near future...way to go Toyota.. |

Re: Trojan lithium battery
Just to be clear, the flux capacitor with the Mr. fusion adapter is the future (or maybe the past). And when we time travel in our golf carts back to 1988 we will have to have a Covid test to make sure we don't ruin the 80's.

Re: Trojan lithium battery
I have been running Lithium batteries in my RC models for 15 years - my golf cart over 4 years now. It's all about $$. Lithium batteries have come down in cost by a bunch in the past 10 years. Golf carts would all be Lithium if the cost was same as FLA.

Re: Trojan lithium battery
But... you charge those batteries in a fire pouch too, do you not?

Re: Trojan lithium battery
The RC ones but obviously not the Golf cart ones. There are plenty of electric cars out there and they have very few battery incidents that are not crash related. This is not new technology - but Lithium batteries are about 2X the cost of FLA. Cart manufacturers don't want to raise the cost of their carts by the extra cost to ship with Lithium so most still ship with FLA.

FLA has its own issues of course. Lithium is expensive, but lithium is better. My .02 anyway. |
