Default Is this motor a Club Car D391 Regen Motor?

Just my luck - the label model# is rubbed away! This is the OEM motor in my '96 CC Regen cart. I am considering buying an upgraded/replacement Regen motor - BUT - the D&D motor says it is a replacement for the Club Car D391 Regen Motor. Is that what this is? (see photos)

An extensive web search found a model reference number for this motor (with photo - they are correct):

GE - P/N 5BC59JBS6251C
CLUB CAR Motor P/N 1022378-01

So - is it a D391?? Also, because I have the old GE T shaped controller (2.75 amp) can I plug & play the D&D motor # 170-501-0003?

Default Re: Is this motor a Club Car D391 Regen Motor?

Spoke to a nice man named Jeff (Geoff?) at D&D - my system is plug & play compatible - BUT - Regen is disabled - and I do use the hill brake function fairly regularly.

I need to take my GPS in hand and determine what my current actual mph is (it feels somewhat brisk). This particular version of Regen 1 Club Car was only manufactured for 6 months or so and might be slightly different than the run-of-the mill Regen 1's (with run/tow). It does outperform many similar carts at our course, but I don't know if they are series/regen I or II or???.

Ultimately I need to decide if this really makes sense.
