2004 club car speed issue???
I just purchased a 2004 club car and put 4 new batteries on it. The take off speed is great but then it slows way down. It stays around 13 mph. So I did a speed sensor test. I put the cart in F and then manually pushed it and alarm went off. Did the same thing in R. So I think the sensor is fine but wonder if the Maginet is bad. Any thoughts on this??

Re: 2004 club car speed issue???
13 MPH is probably what it was set at from the factory for golf course use. I'm sure others will chime in but I think you can put a different (high speed) magnet in that cart and get the speed up to around 18 or 19 MPH. Tahoe Dawg at Revolution Carts can tell you exactly what you can do. He's a site sponsor. One more thing, you need to post the first 4 digits of the cart serial number so everyone knows what you have.

The odd thing is that my buddy who had this said it was one of the fastest golf carts he has been in but he's not been in that many. Lol.

You said you put 4 new 12v batteries, what kind were they?
Edit: Speed magnets work great on that cart. |

Re: 2004 club car speed issue???
I vote for a speed magnet. It'll override the speed regulation function of the controller and allow it to run it's full potential. Should run around 20-22mph-ish. There are two different magnets. One for a GE motor. One for an ADC/AMD motor. Make sure you order the correct one if you're going to buy one. Your cart should have a GE motor. Post pics here for confirmation.

Re: 2004 club car speed issue???
I put in Trojan T-1275 batteries. They are expensive little buggers. I only gave a thousand for the cart. It's a great cart. It was my buddies uncles. He got it when his uncle died along with a classic car collection and classic tractor collections and classic gas pump collections. He just wanted this cart out of his way.

Re: 2004 club car speed issue???
Ohh I forgot to add that I think it's a GE motor. The sensor is flat and flush with the housing. I had to order a lug nut tool so I can take off rim to get to the sensor easier. It takes a 6 spline socket to remove lug nuts. My buddy had no idea where that might be.
