Fully Independent Suspension Build
Thanks Diesel. Appreciate it.
I’ve got the front suspension rebuilt enough for a static test. Work SO MUCH better. Now I think my next issue to iron out is the rear shocks are too stiff with no adjustable damping or compression. I can’t tune them in because the spring rate is too high as well. I can’t get the needed preload on the shock to make it function the way I want it to without making the rear way too stiff. I Need to find some 16-18” shocks with rebound and dampening controls and a lighter spring rate. I ended up canceling the order for the 12” wheels because I’m abandoning the Miata rotors for the time being. I want more tire sidewall than a 12” wheel 23” tire will give. I may end up going to a full set of TRX450R beadlock wheels and tires later and maybe some wider and adjustable front Arms. I think this will yield a better performance and more tunability. Here she is tacked and mocked up for a stance and suspension cycling test. More to come. |

Fully Independent Suspension Build
Here’s where I am with the front end. REMEMBER, this is NOT complete. I have a lot of bracing, welding and triangulation to do to make the front solid and stable. I just wanted to get enough done to check all the geometry and see if I finally figured out the dimensions correctly. Which I believe I did.
I scoured the internet and found enough pictures to do a 3D model of what I believed the angles and distances were on a 450 but with my narrowed sub-frame size as well. I think I hit it, if not I’m really close I think. |

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Got her steering and rolling. Gotta take a pause on the project and clean out the shop. It’s getting where I can’t find anything and I need to work on my Caddy for a bit.
