Default Has anyone used a oil extractor pump?

Has anyone used one of the oil pump extractors on the new Yamaha's?

Its time for a oil change and thought one of these would make it easier.

Not in a cart, but in my boat - absolutely. The catch is oil is circulated in the engine with a filter, vs. splash lube, so there isn't a lot of junk remaining at very bottom of pan. There is always some oil that stays in the bottom of the pan with this method... The suction may/may not be able to pick up any junk, depending on the relative flow of the oil vs. area. (mine pulls thru a 1/4" hose) not a lot of volume moving vs. a wide open drain plug.

I use them frequently on marine engines, tried it on my new Yamaha cart and it left 2+ ounces behind that I found after I pulled the plug and let it finish draining.

I experimented with one on my first oil change. After using the pump, I opened the drain plug to confirm all oil was out. It was not. The pump left about 2-3 oz so every subsequent oil change was done by removing the drain plug to insure all of the spent oil has been drained. Over kill, maybe.

Admittedly, I am anal and try to do everything 100% every time.

YMMV
