2016 yamaha Drive: storage/battery charge question

Hi,

2016 yamaha Drive: storage/battery charge question---

If I leave my cart for a few months or more, can I simply just leave plugged in to charger(as I understand the new chargers will not overcharge)? Or will I need a trickle charger? or?

Also, anything I should do with the water level?

You need a trickle charger. The standard charger won't reset and charge again without being unplugged / power cycled. Make sure water levels are good. A trickle charger won't gas the batteries so the water levels should be fine for a few months.

I bought a Save-A-Battery charger/maintainer and have had no problems so far.

- Are there other 48 volt trickle chargers aside from "save-a battery" ?

- when trickle charging, do you hook up to the main (+) and (-)?

Unless I have missed something for a long time....Yamaha's chargers, from the MAC/DPI and Yamaha's own brand chargers are fully automatic. As long as the AC circuit is not interupted, they will turn on as needed to regain lost voltage from sitting. I have come to recommend putting the run/tow switch into tow when leaving the car sitting unattended. Lightning strikes and power surges can hurt the controller if the "run position" is left on.

I only have on/off switch on my cart- should I leave on, off or take key out ?

In you battery compartment, there is a "run/tow switch". It "cut's off" power from the battery pack to the controller when it is in the "tow" position.

My Yamaha charger (2012) does not turn back on. There are several trickle chargers out there for 48Volt packs. I use "Battery Tender" models on my cars that I leave and they have a golf cart version. I would never leave my Yamaha charger plugged in for days or weeks or months.

so with the 2016 yamaha drive AC: when I leave it for a while--- just keep it plugged into the charger that came with it and turn the run/tow switch to "tow" ?

So Volt_Ampere, do you think 2016's are diff then 2012? do you think regardless I should go with the trickle charge when left for a while then?

what about the run/tow switch?
