Default Harley/Columbia with 4 stroke engine conversion

Just thought I would share this 4 stroke conversion i did to my Harley/columbia cart. I put a 16 hp briggs horizontally opposed engine and a polaris trail boss 350 Forward Neutral reverse Low, gearbox in it. Exhaust is hand made. I had to cut out a section of the frame so the engine would sit low enough for the bonnet to close and it raised the cart about 3-4 inches. I put coilover shocks from a moped on it. the only thing left to do is make the linkage for the gear selector. right now i have it geared to run 25mph and it will spin the tires in grass and gravel.

Thats great. Maybe you could describe what you done to retrofit in more detail. Seems like this would be a good subject.

Well I will include a few pictures I took as I was building it. It didn't occur to me to document the whole process but I took these as I was working on it. The Cart was lifted by cutting and rotating the the mounts that the swing arm attaches to, also I put in pillow block bearings with a straight axle for the rear end axle assembly. I can try to answer specific questions.

I marked in yellow the swing arm mounts I cut and welded in a different direction. The red just shows where the frame used to be.
