2018 CC Onward gas speed
Hey guys! I've had my CC for a couple weeks now. I installed a RPM tach and adjusted the throttle cable. Very happy with the results. Going 27-28MPH at 3800RPM.
Any input on what guys are running the RPM's up to on these 14hp Subaru fuel injected motors? It's 3600 from the factory. thanks for all the help from this site. |

Update:Top speed at 30MPH at 3900 RPM's. Keep it at 25 most of the time. Put a zip tie on the governor spring. Takes off smooth like stock.

Re: 2018 CC Onward gas speed
Hey Brian, I also adjusted the throttle cable on mine, but only get 23mph. I feel like if I adjust it anymore, it's gonna fall off from being so loose. Could you please show me a picture from the access panel showing your zip ties? I'd like to see how you rigged them to get the 30mph. I'm just about done with my stereo/camera/dvd player project and I'd like to move on to a speed upgrade next. I've also found a high speed cable online that's supposed to get the speed to low 30's. It's only $22.00, but if the zip ties work without any damage to the motor, then I'll just try that route first.
Any suggestions would be appreciated! |

Re: 2018 CC Onward gas speed
Here you go.
Is your cart lifted on 23" tall tires? If I remember correct, mine was going 27mph before the zip tie. Keep in mind with the zip tie at 30mph I'm running 4000rpms. What site are you seeing the high speed cable? Wonder if it works with the same results with higher rpms than recommended 3600 to get the 30 plus mph? Anything over 3600rpm is doing harm to the motor faster than normal. High speed gears at 3800rpm is what I'll end up with I bet. Problem is I already have a lot in this cart. Thanks |

Yes, the strain on the motor concerns me too.I guess I'm gonna need to install a Tachometer as well to monitor the RPM's, or maybe even an engine temperature gage.
My cart came stock with the 23" tires, should be the same setup you had. It only did 19mph when I bought it. I used a speedometer app to measure, and it tops out at 23mph now after adjusting the cable, but it's a little jumpy when you first hit the accelerator. |

Re: 2018 CC Onward gas speed
Hi Guys
Ok. I added the zip tie as you showed and now I am getting 23MPH. I was only getting 18 MPH. I have the standard non lifted tires on my 2018 CC Onward. Thanks for the info. |

Re: 2018 CC Onward gas speed
Glad to hear you got more speed! I bought mine on Amazon. They're easy to install. Mine wraps around the spark plug wire. Others clip on the plug wire.
If I were to do it again...I'd buy one that clips on and the light stays on if you want it to. Mine has a light but it only stays on for two seconds. Where mine is mounted is not by choice. That was all the length it has. Lol |
