You leave the balance on and set the voltage for when it enabled to be be allowed to turn on. It only actually balances when the cells are out of balance by the set amount that's also set in the settings (I used the default lifepo4 setting for this and set the balancing to only work if the cells are 3.4 or higher). I also leave my charge on under control all the time. I do disable the discharge just to help prevent anyone from joyride my cart at the campground.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Rain has stopped for the time being, more expected this afternoon. Initial charging is underway and going well. Maybe 3-4 more hours? Watching the app is almost as exciting as watching grass grow!

So here's where I'm at today. Set the charger with no load to 55.2 volts (with a handheld meter) as suggested. The voltage on the charger is within .2 of a handheld meter. It took about 3 hours to bring it up this high and it hasn't moved since. Should I increase the voltage to get to 3.45 volts per cell and monitor? Or should I call it a day?

Nope, battery is still not fully charged. You can tell because the current hasnít tapered off yet, itís still pulling 14.9A. Meter is not calibrated yet, hence itís showing 100%. Once current tapers off to 1.5A or below (10%) then increase the voltage to 56v (3.5v/cell, battery disconnected).

Leave it this way once balancing finishes. This will top balance the cells. Charger may cut in/out as cells go in/out of over voltage protection and BMS cutting off charge.

Once thatís done, turn the charger back down and youíre done.

Get the lead out! Project completed! Went very well and was a fun project to take on. Installation went well, all hooked up and running well. A noticeable difference with the weight loss of 305 pounds. Range and performance are both great so far and the cells are nearly perfectly balanced.
