Default Need help setting up JK BMS

So I have everything wired up correctly and torqued down. Now I need some guidance on setting up the parameters for my cells with the JK BMS. Getting ready to do the first charge. Send me your suggestions.

Hi Lenny,

Although your cells seem to be LiFePO4, the voltage range seems to be a little lower.

To match your cells, drop Cell OVP(V) to 3.5v
Drop Cell OVPR(V) to 3.45v. Maybe even drop Start Balance Volt to 3.35v
Your spec sheets say that low voltage is 2v but I知 not confident about dropping the protection that low. Let痴 keep it at the standard LiFePO4 lower limit of 2.5v. Drop Cell UVP(V) to 2.55v Cell and UVPR(V) to 2.6v. Leave Power Off Vol at 2.5v. Thats the cell voltage that the BMS will shut itself off. 2.55v is when the load is disconnected.

Increase Charge UTP to 5 and UTPR to 7. Leaves a margin of error but you can drop them closer to zero if you need to.

Since you have repurposed cells, you値l most likely have to drop the capacity from 74Ah to whatever the real capacity is. You値l need to use the battery to determine what that may be.

Set your charger to 55.2v, which is 3.45v/cell.

For others reading this, these parameters are not standard LiFePO4 parameters, they have been adjusted to match the cells Lenny has purchased.

These are NEW overstock cells from a previous model year vehicle in which they were to be potentially used for a starter battery but instead clearanced by the pallet load. I believe they have been tested to still provide full capacity.

That's good info. Have you found anything out about the chemistry/lower voltage?

Just that those specs seem to be right as they coincide with the other sites I've found them at..
It's not all that unusual I guess as the current nmc pack I'm building uses samsung SDI cells and the recommended max voltage is 4.1v (4.15max) instead of 4.2

It's the low voltage spec that concerns me. They state 2v, that's 20% lower than the standard LiFePO4 spec of 2.5v

I can't find any more detailed information than this https://www.lithiumenergy.jp/en/products/

Thanks Pat911 & augiedoggy, I couldn't have done this without your help!

I'd like to say this is my last question but it's probably not! Ha!

On the last page labeled control, do I understand that when charging I have to flip the button to charge?

And for run I have to flip the button to discharge?

I figured the balance out, only flip it when I want to balance the cells.

With regen braking do I have to allow any additional headroom?

THANK YOU!
