Kawasaki 13hp 401cc exgo rxv engine swap into precedent

I just got a club car Precedent with the fe290 engine. I see EZGO 08+ use Kawasaki 13hp engines that seem to look similar but I can't find any pics of the mount. Has anyone tried to do this swap? If so what adapts and what needs to be modified?

Welcome to BGW Bob!

I'm not very familiar with EZ-GO's Kawi FJ engine, so I'm just putting this out there...

One thing for sure that you'll need to consider is...
the EZ-GO's Kawasaki FJ400D spins counter-clockwise, and your Club Car's FE290D spins clockwise,
so you'll have to have the shifter in reverse to go forward,
you'll loose top end speed, but you'll have a heck of A LOT of low end torque!

The carburetor is laid out different, so you'll need to modify the intake tube, and the throttle linkage is quite a bit different,
and I'm pretty sure you'll have to change the exhaust. (FE290 exhausts are different from the 350/400 exhaust)

as for the footprint? I'm not sure... but I'd imagine that the mounting holes would be the same.

Other than that? ...

Look in the big block section
I do not think any body has done this but many have used Briggs Honda or similar engines. Probably cheaper than a ezgo engine new

Or maybe, he possibly has access to a FJ400...

Yes if you have one already it would work.
Just thinking with it spinning the wrong way a clone or Briggs with a rev kit would help make up for the top speed lost.
I do not have any idea how many rpms a ezgo engine can spin.

I dont have one but they are about $900 new on ebay. Rather cheap imo. Didnt know they spun CC so that can be a kink in the system. maybe i just need to hunt for a fe 350 or 400

Those seem very hard or rare to find. Most 350 have a rod through the block
