Default Club car with kawasaki engine swap help

Well lets try this in the correct place shall we....

I bought a 98 club car that had a kawasaki OHV water cooled engine swap done to it. This has been made to be a key start with the forward and reverse being switched. The cart has an 8in (I believe) lift.

The problem: when I start the cart the drive clutch is already starting to spin so when it turns over I have to be on the brakes pretty good. The cart will not idle without trying to take off and you cannot switch it from forward to reverse with it running. You have to turn off the cart, switch gears, and then crank it back up.

Is there any way to fix this so when I crank it up it won't try to take off and will just idle. If I can figure that out I assume I would be able switch gears without shutting it off.

Thanks in advance for your help!
-Ken

If you still have club car clutch on the engine, there is a spring kit available to raise the rpm at which it starts to squeeze the belt and move the cart.
Does it have the CC clutch?
Also, could your belt be too short?

Yes get the stall spring for the stock club car clutch it raises the engagement of the clutch by 200 rpm, also try adjusting the idle on the carburetor down so the motor idles at a lower rpm.

A "liquid cooled" Kawi engine has to be a 16+ hp v-twin!
I'm not sure if a stock drive clutch works on them.

I believe you are correct. You may need to go to an aftermarket driven clutch and a severe duty belt. Something about that build doesn't seem finished and I believe your clutch does need adjusting.

Thanks guys... it does look like a stock clutch (both drive and driven). The idle has been turned down as far as it can, and I agree the build does not seem done. So from what I am taking in I should look for an aftermarket spring for the driven clutch with a higher kick in rpm. Any suggestions would be helpful. I really cant afford a new drive clutch right now, lol, ouch on that price! I went from a yamaha G1 to this thing and although I have been able to fix all the wiring issues this is over my head. And if anyone has any suggestions for an aftermarket exhaust for thus beast that would be helpful. Pretty sure I will be using and abusing you guys for help!

As you can also see from the picture there is just straight pipes coming from the engine and I can't seem to find an exhaust for this thing.

1016901 200 rpm spring from Club Car. The last one I bought was in the 12-14 dollar range.
