Default Electrical problems with 68D Harley

I recently bought a 68D , Gas Harley Davidson GOlf cart. The voltage regulator was laying on the seat so I cleaned up the points on it and installed it. No other wires seemed to have been tampered with. When I turn on the key and press the pedal the motor turns over but there is no spark. When I subsequently release the pedal the starter/generator keeps turning the motor over. I checked the points and cleaned them up but still no spark.I went to several websites that have wiring diagrams of HD carts but none of the wiring was exactly like mine. I have not been able to find a Manual for this cart so any guideance or help will be greatly appreciated.

You may want to consider testing the coil to make sure it is giving off enough power.
