Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
no shifting, just keep it in sixth gear.
I just ordered a 19 tooth sprocket for the engine and a 14 tooth sprocket for the jackshaft. That should improve the driveability. The video was shot with only 5/8 throttle throw. Now to build some exhaust and put some brakes on the front. I went to pull a part and got some rear brakes from an acura integra that will fit perfectly with only minor modification to the brake hat and easy welding on the spindle. The rear brakes will give me the option to use a cable or hydraulic actuation. |

Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
I'm adding discs to the front.
I needed longer wheel studs, found these: Autozone: Dorman wheel stud Part Number: 610-404.1 Weight: 0.18 lbs Type: Serrated stud Thread: M12-1.25 Knurl Diameter: 14.28 mm. Length: 46.00 mm. Shoulder Length: 13.50 mm. These worked perfectly with my 1989 acura integra rear rotors mounted on the front. I had to open the ID of the rotors to fit the hubs and drill out the holes 1/32nd. The rotors also widen the track width by 1" overall. |

Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
Exhaust is installed. I used some 304 Stainless tubing from ebay and a muffler from napa. The muffler is aluminized steel. I wanted stainless but couldnt find any oe style that was. bummer. WOW, nice and quiet! Now its neighborhood friendly.
Calipers are 1/2 way there. |

Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
update: I put a 20 tooth sprocket on the front from a hayabusa from sprocket specialists. . The rear sprocket I changed to 14 tooth. Now the clutch pulls in at 3500rpm. Low speed operation is far more neighborhood friendly. Top speed should be around 48mph! its no where near as nasty as before, but it can still pop standstill wheelies with ease and has tons of power.
This is all with the throttle only opening up 5/8! |

Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
If I ever want more torque, I just shift to 5th gear!

Re: Yet another GSXR powered cart
I just got an out of service COT wing from the defunct Evernham motorsports complex. That will fit nicely on the back!
I'll post up some pics when done. |
