Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
The only suspension regret I had was leaning my rear shocks in too far. You would be surprised how much that softens them up. At the time I was thinking more high speed and I ended up building more of a crawler. Just because Golf Cart and high speed should not be used in the same sentence.

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Thanks fellas. I’m still making progress. The rear is done. Brakes connected all tabs welded permanently. I ended up rebuilding the shock mounts because I realized the eyelets needed to be turned 90* to work better with the four link. I leaned them forward about 15* and was able to gain another inch of travel. So the rear has 4.25” of travel or slightly more. So that’s good.
I also built a battery tray in the club well to help lighten the front to hopefully work better with the soft 450R shocks I bought. I got the geometry of the front A arms and total track width working the way I wanted them to. Sun frame is about 1/3 built. Next major challenge is figuring out how close to the frame it needs to be mounted so the cart will ride level under normal conditions. I’ll post some more detailed photos later today when I go back out there. I was building more than taking pictures yesterday. I hope to have her rolling and riding shortly after thanksgiving. Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
I really want to change to a Lipo battery but dang they’re expensive. I feel like the cart would perform better with the weight reduction that would bring.

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Is that 4.25" at the shock or at the hub? Are you using a track bar?

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
4.25" sounds kinda short. Think I ended up around 10" all around and I have bottomed out the front once.

I've always learned from the old timers, and I'm kinda beginning to become one myself now lol.....but a couple "old timer" friends I have use this formula for a good riding vehicle. Travel, soft springs, stiff shocks. Using that formula has always worked for me when I follow it. |

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Scotty that looks like at least 8-9" of travel right there.

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Rebuilt a bunch of stuff. So much I can’t remember all of it. Decided to go center seat.
Waiting on parts for steering among other things. Front frame is just mocked up and tacked to check ride height with batteries onboard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Fully Independent Suspension Build
Still have some body figment and trimming to do but here’s an idea of what it’s going to look like.
