Steering Wheel Removal issue
Well after reading a bunch of threads on how to remove a steering wheel on a 92 DS AND trying all of the suggestions, its time to cut the **** thing off.
My question is this ... Once I cut it off, will I need to replace the parts that connect the wheel to the column? Probably a silly question .. but hey... I am new to this. THANKS IN ADVANCE ! Shawn |

Have you tried applying a little heat to it?

Re: Steering Wheel Removal issue
Been there felt like that! before you go to cutting, soak the darn thing in PB blaster, then put a gear puller on it and crank 'er down. Hit the stem of the gear puller that you've cranked down onto the column a few times with a hammer, then tighten it up a little more. You may have to leave it like that a while with the pressure on it, but it'll come off eventually. You can also try heating it like jay said, just be careful not to catch any PB blaster or lubricant and penetrant you've used on fire! I've pulled wheels this way several times, and never had one not come off after a little "persuasion" Hope this helps!

Re: Steering Wheel Removal issue
Why does CC make these so hard to get off?
It seems like a bad design or something... I have never removed one, but it seems they are always a problem after reading the posts on here. |

I used a heat gun when I heated mine unto avoid a open flame near all the pb blaster. Just a little smoke and it came right off.

Re: Steering Wheel Removal issue
I can't possibly express how much PB blaster and hammering I have done. I have not applied any heat but I will try that. IF.... I do have to cut, what will I need to replace aside from the new wheel and mount?
Thanks |

Depends on how deep you cut. Try and not cut too deep and not damage the splines and all you would need to replace is the wheel and adapter. Too deep and you would need a new steering shaft
