Nightmare Lift Kit experience...
I have a 1988 DS with a seized motor which I'm looking at doing a total rebuild so I decided to start with suspension as most big block V-twins require at least a 4" lift.
On August 6th I ordered the Jake's 4" A-Arm lift kit (part 7464). When I received it in early September it didn't have any install hardware which at least some of it seemed custom to the kit, so I contacted my retailer and had them order the install hardware - which arrived today less some bushings... A trip to Advance Auto and I found the exact bushings for this kit - so I tear out my front end and begin the install. All is going smoothly until I get to the upper A-Arms - they sent me 2 driver side instead of one each side. Sonofa!#@~! Is this typical of Jake's? It seems very sloppy packing. |

Re: Nightmare Lift Kit experience...
I have heard over the years that Jakes quality control has been slipping. Some have good experiences, some don't. It's a shame. Years ago they got bought out by Nivel. Since then they have had issues.
I will say this, during the "pandemic" a lot of manufacturing companies are suffering big time. Not only did the shutdown affect their own operations, but it also affected all of their suppliers. I think Jakes does business in China so.... Sounds like you have not had a great time with them, it's awful, and I feel for you. Best you can do is try again. |
