Humms before it starts
When I first press down on throttle my cart humm's before it turns over and starts.

First. The wife asked me what was so funny in there.
Second. My starter belt is slightly loose, and makes a noise while it winds up the tension. So yes, check your belt tension. Third. A humming noise is usually a sign of high electrical resistance. Brushes would be the first suspect. Then corroded connections, and finally hidden corrosion in the positive battery cable. It could also be a combination of all three. Change the brushes. Clean the commutator. Clean all of the battery lugs, and connections. Finally, as a last resort after doing everything else, change the positive battery cable. |

I would like to thank you for your help. I'm not sure what it was that I cleaned that fixed my problem. I cleaned and protected the positive cable and found some corrosion in a cluster of negative wires on the solenoid.
This winter I will replace the brushes, there is still a little life in them. Thanks again Bob Turner |

If it is gas adjust the belt. I have to keep mine pretty tight and no issues.
