Engine Idle Setting
I've been working on my Yamaha and I'm setting the idle. I get it down to 1000-1050 rpm and it idles along great but I can watch my clutch and it's open and not closing till about 15-1600 rpm. So I bump the idle up to about 1300-1350 rpm and it idles even better and I can watch my clutch engage upon acceleration close up and start transferring power - let off the gas and you can see it open all the way. I have 1 inch belt deflection and no issues shifting or hitting neutral. The new idle speed 1300-1350 rpm, it responses fantastic on takeoff.
With the UT2 ignition system it starts firing at 10 degrees BTDC then advances to 26 degrees BTDC. Much easier on the starter. |
