Stand Up Paddle Board Tansporter??
New to site and I am very impressed with the wealth of information.
Purchased my first cart recently. An '09 Yamaha electric. Mostly stock. I was hoping to use it to transport our SUP's (stand up paddle boards) down to the lake. I cant see any reason why they wont ride nicely on the roof. Any members have experience doing this? Any foreseeable issues by placing them up there? Wasn't sure where to post this. If I'm in the wrong folder let me know and I'll move it to wherever you suggest. Thanks. Gerry |

I would guess you might need to reinforce the roof supports. They are designed to hold up the top and not much more. If you don't have many bumps or rough roads it might hold up.

I agree. I'd also make sure the carrier attaches and uses the frame posts as support and not the top.

I live a few blocks from the boat ramp, and have often thought about transporting kayaks there on the roof. I'm pretty sure I'd need to replace the whole roof support system with some stronger tubing. But I want to give it a try.

A little on the pricey side but it would surly be the best option for your needs.

Re: Stand Up Paddle Board Tansporter??
We do it all of the time. My daughter has an inflatable SUP that I believe is pretty close to the same weight as the fiberglass ones. The only problem we have is that I haven't figured out a holder yet so she has to keep her hand on it while we travel. Our cart is a Pathway so it has the rollbar which might be why it has never been a problem. This is how we roll.

Re: Stand Up Paddle Board Tansporter??
Thanks for the replies. The top seemed pretty rigid. The board itself only weighs about 23lb. I put an old yoga mat on the top and laid the board bottom side to the sky. With the weight so widely distributed everything held up great. No reinforcement required. A couple of straps from harbor freight and the 1 mile trip to the lake went fine. I'll try to get a picture up soon.

On our old electric cart, we used to put it on the roof and run a strap around it. Held up just fine going down to the lake and back. The fiberglass boards do not way that much.
