Re: to rattle can.....
I used Bondo fiber with kittie hair (fine strands of fiber glass) and a tube of glazing putty for the small stuff. Light sand paper and alot of elbow grease will do just fine. For the flat spots use a board with 3-M sticky paper attached to it. The paper comes in rolls and you can put use the sponge type sanding blocks for the rounded areas. Just take your time and dont get in a hurry filling the small imperfections, just fill let dry sand, fill let dry sand, and feather the bondo and it will work well. I use it on plastic front bumpers with small cracks. They have a rubber filler that is sort of the same principal made by 3-M also that I have used in the past.
Good Luck |

Re: to rattle can.....
I can not stress enough that all the most important work to a successfull paint job, regardless of weather it is a spray gun or a spray can is the prep work!
If you want a really nice job remember this order: 1 sand 2 fill 3 sand 4 clean 5 prime 6 sand 7 clean 8 prime 9 clean 10 clean 11 clean 12 paint 13 clear 14 wet sand 15 clean 16 buff If you want a quickie color change: clean, scuff, clean, prime, scuff, clean, clean, paint. Cleanliness is VERY important, not just what you're painting but WHERE you're painting. You can do a really nice job with spray cans but the level of "nice" depends on how well you do the prep work. If you rush it will look like you rushed. So you need to decide what what level of "nice" you expect to see then go from there. BTW dodgefather, nice job! |

Re: to rattle can.....
There always is the rustoleum and roller method. I am doing mine right now with interlux brightside boat paint.

Re: to rattle can.....
I put up another thread "just couldn't leave it alone" which has pics of what else I did with a rattle can. Here are a couple.

Re: to rattle can.....
I agree with furball. The prep work makes the paint job look good. Funny how you can see marks under the paint. Anyhow for what it's worth I think the rattle can job looks good.

Re: to rattle can.....
I am sure someone has posted this back a few pages but did not see it .If the body is plastic you should use an adhesion promoter before you spray the primer on or paint ,this softens the plastic for great adhesion ,also for the small scrathes and gouges polyester finishing putty is the best because it does not leave pinholes like the heavier Bondo will .
