TXT electric motor removal
Hey all,
I've got a 2016 cushman shuttle 2+2 (same as TXT 2+2) and I'm about ready to install the new AC motor. Most of the videos I've watched are either on lifted carts where they can pull the motor from the bottom or 2 seater carts where they can pull the motor from the back. I have a non-lifted, 4 seater cart so I am not sure what the easiest method for me. Should I: 1) Remove the entire rear seat assembly and then pull the motor from the back? 2) Disconnect the shackle from the rear spring and lift the body to get clearance to pull out from underneath? 3) Something else that I am not thinking of??? Suggestions would be much appreciated! |

I've done those by putting the rear of the cart up on stands. Put a jack under the motor, disconnect the rear shackles & shocks, then use the jack to slowly pivot the motor & axle down. Be aware that the whole thing weighs more than you're probably thinking.

Re: TXT electric motor removal
I agree with the above. Easiest way to swap the motor on a non lifted cart with a back seat assembly. Jack the rear of the cart really high and place jack stands just forward of the front leaf spring frame connections. Unbolt the rear shackles and shocks and lower the rear end assembly so you're sitting on the floor and working right in front of you. The only thing I would caution is that with the jack stands placed there you're getting really close to the balance point of the cart and it may want to see-saw on the stands. I found it helpful to put a couple of old 12 volt battery cores in the front foot to add weight to the front of the cart.

Re: TXT electric motor removal
My precaution about the balance point of the cart obviously won't apply with a shuttle. Only with a standard cart.
